Leads

A B2B cycle that runs eighteen months is not lost at the pitch. It is lost in month nine, quietly, because nobody remembered whose turn it was. The Leads tab is the same screen as Customers with the chase added to it.

Everything the Customers tab does

Contacts, keywords, products, documents, tasks, custom fields, the registered conversation and the activity flag all work exactly as they do on the Customers tab. A lead is not a lesser record — it is the same record before the contract, which is why converting one later costs nothing.

  • The same filters, the same search, the same colours
  • Requirements & Specifics: what they actually asked for
  • Official data & notes: what you may quote back to them
  • The whole history is kept, whether they buy this year or in three

A light green row means somebody is on it

The moment the follow-up is started, the row turns light green in everyone's list. It is the cheapest possible answer to the question a small team asks each other five times a week — is anyone already talking to these people — and it needs no stand-up meeting to stay true.

  • Green in the Sel column: an activity flag is open
  • Red: open and urgent, because somebody ticked Need (Urgent) Action
  • A dot: actions registered since you last looked at this record
  • CLEAR ACTION FLAG when it has been dealt with

The next action, with a date on it

Register what happened and raise the next step as a task in the same minute, from the same screen. The task carries a finish date, an owner, and — if you want it — an e-mail alert a few days before. That is the whole discipline: nothing leaves your screen without the next date attached.

  • Tasks raised from the lead are linked back to it
  • An e-mail alert goes out on the date you set
  • Overdue rows are red in the task list, for everyone
  • The comment history on a task shows what was tried

The day they sign

CONVERT turns the lead into a customer and carries the whole history over — every contact, every registered action, every document and every task. There is no export, no re-keying and no moment where two half-records exist. The invoicing fields are on the same screen, so the first invoice can be registered the same afternoon.

Keys worth learning on day one

What this tab replaces

A pipeline tool priced per seat, and the three habits that usually stand in for one.

  • The spreadsheet of who-is-chasing-whom
  • The calendar reminder that only one person can see
  • "I thought you were following that one up"
  • A separate pipeline subscription beside the CRM you already pay for

Follow one deal all the way through

Install it, register two actions against a demo lead and convert it. It takes about four minutes.
