Feasibility study on vial control

Challenge: Detect the presence of glass particles smaller than 1 mm in transparent and dark glass vials of different dimensions filled with transparent liquid (medicines). Test set: 100 samples of each type. Number of types: 5. Detect the presence of glass particles smaller than 1 mm in transparent and dark glass vials of different dimensions filled with transparent liquid (medicines). Test set: 100 samples of each type. Number of types: 5.

Solution: Using a special illumination technique and dosing of vials in the analyser, a success rate of 96% for the recognition of particles smaller than 1 mm and a 100% success rate for the recognition of particles bigger than 1 mm were achieved. A further optimisation of the illumination was made in order for the level of filling not to affect the particle recognition.
